Not My Circus

Not My Circus

‘Not my circus….not my monkeys.’ A great, light-hearted reminder about what and whom and how I should take responsibility, and what I can refuse to allow in through my boundaries.

Feeling a bit over-run? Noise and Chaos swinging merrily through your chandeliers and pillaging the panty? Why not check their name tags? They may not be YOUR monkeys at all.

Quote

Because I love Jan’s work, her paintings and her poetry alike, I’m happy to repost her request…and this beautiful invocation for your day today. Love from the Bard!

“Recently discovered that a blessing that I wrote has been traveling around Tumblr and beyond, which is cool, except that it’s being attributed to John O’Donohue. I love O’Donohue’s work but would like to stick a pin in this blessing as being mine. Please share!”

Blessing in the Chaos

To all that is chaotic
in you,
let there come silence.

Let there be
a calming
of the clamoring,
a stilling
of the voices that
have laid their claim
on you,
that have made their
home in you,

that go with you
even to the
holy places
but will not
let you rest,
will not let you
hear your life
with wholeness
or feel the grace
that fashioned you.

Let what distracts you
cease.
Let what divides you
cease.
Let there come an end
to what diminishes
and demeans,
and let depart
all that keeps you
in its cage.

Let there be
an opening
into the quiet
that lies beneath
the chaos,
where you find
the peace
you did not think
possible
and see what shimmers
within the storm.
